Season’s Greetings with a Cross

Season’s Greetings with a Cross

Dear Friends and Members of the Polish Business Club in Jakarta.

As the year 2021 is passing by, it’s a moment for reflection: how did we do survive in very unusual and inconvenient pandemic conditions? We did, somehow, and as I’m sure you can find wonderful situations in your lives that occurred in the past year, I would like to share with you one unforgettable moment of my life in 2021.

The hard work, continuous involvement in enriching social and business relationships, and also spreading hope that bad things will be replaced by good ones soon, was unexpectedly recognized: my wife Beata and myself were honored by the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, and we were both awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.

It is a state award for exemplary public service or humanitarian work that goes above and beyond the call of duty. We’re still speechless and amazed, so thankful for this recognition that couldn’t have been possible without dozens of people who collaborated with us on our various business-focused, social, and charity endeavors, maintaining Polish culture and communities in Indonesia as people arrived and departed over the 38 years we spent in Jakarta.

As some other recipients of this honor include President Dwight Eisenhower, Józef Piłsudski, Lech Wałęsa, Władysław Szpilman, Douglas MacArthur and many many more, we feel deeply grateful and honored by this recognition.

We wish you all the best in 2022 in advance and hope that we can all plan some New Year Resolutions. And even if the continued pandemic will disorganize them somehow, if we do it with our hearts, we might succeed and have the end of the year 2022 as happy as our 2021 was after all.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and a SAFE, HEALTHY and HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022.

Cheers,

Andrzej / Andy
