Chairman’s Report – October 2012

Dear Members and Friends of the Polish Business Club in Jakarta.

It has been almost eight weeks since I have posted my last report.

Some new things related to our activities have happened during that time and I would like to share them with you as well.

Mr. Roman Morawski, the head of the Trade & Investment Promotion Division of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland once again promoted our Club outside of Jakarta. This time on the 19th of September, we have been recognized by the business community in Medan, during the “Roundtable Meeting to Expand Trade & Investment between  Poland and North Sumatraorganized in a cooperation with the Honorary Consul of RP in Medan, Mr. Jonner Napitupulu , a member of our Club.

Another important recognition we have received during 19th Annual Bali Classic Golf Tournament 2012 taking place on the 19-20 of October at the New Kuta Golf Course in Bali.

Using my glassware contacts in Poland, at this time with Julia Crystal Glass Factory www.crystaljulia.com, on behalf of the Polish Business Club in Jakarta, I have organized a part of the trophies for that tournament.

36 sets of Crystal decanters, beer, champagne, brandy, whiskey and juice glasses were awarded to the winners in 5 different categories.

At the same time in Jakarta, on the 18th of October, our Vice Chairwoman Natalia Sintadewi attended a more serious gathering, The EuroCham Consultative Board meeting, to review the activities of the Chamber, the situation of European business in Indonesia and discuss how to further support the interests of Europe in Indonesia. Accompanying the head of the Trade & Investment Promotion Division, Mr. Roman Morawski, Natalka was introduced to all of the participants – Ambassadors and Commercial Councilors  of the European Union members – as the representative of the Polish Business Club in Jakarta.

It has been our second participation in that meeting, which gives to our Club highly appreciated recognition within the diplomatic community in Jakarta.

The last information I owe you is the follow up for the auction of the shirt with the signature of Kuba Blaszczykowski. 4,750,000 Rp has been raised for the local school project and the money is in my hand to be wisely spent. There have been some difficulties with time coordination in between the school, JIS students, the sponsor who bought the jersey and myself ( we should be meeting in the next two weeks ) to support the school with : Maps of the World and Indonesia, English Picture Dictionaries, sport equipment and other educational materials which we have bought and will be purchasing to donate to the school.

I will send you a full report after the hand-over happens.

I think this is all for this time and see you all at our Thursday gathering, November 1st, at 7 pm. at Murphy’s Irish Pub in Kemang.

Cheers,

Andy
